CCA COMMITTEES

The Practice Committee

The Practice Committee is comprised of a group of professional clinicians, agency social workers, adoptees, and adoptive parents in the state of Connecticut who meet monthly to share updated information about adoption issues and practices and support legislation pertaining to adoption. Twice per year the Practice Committee holds educational forums to educate the CCA membership on the latest issues and practices in adoption in Connecticut.

In the past, the Practice Committee has held forums on the impact of unregulated providers on Domestic Private Adoption in Connecticut, sensory processing issues with children who were adopted or are in foster care with Ruth Pearlman, LICSW, and exploring best practice with transracial adoptive families.

We are a group of professionals dedicated to Connecticut’s adoptive families, birth families, and children. We welcome participants to join this interesting, energized and innovative group. Email info@ctadopt.org for more information.

*Throughout its history, the Practice Committee has prepared and published many booklets for adoption professionals. The following booklets are currently available online:

The ABC’s of Writing and Reading an Adoptive Family Assessment/Guidelines for Selecting an Adoptive family for a Child

The Nominating Committee

The duty of the Nominating Committee is to recommend a slate of officers every two years, in the even-numbered years. The committee also fills any vacancies that occur and helps with nominating people for the annual CCA award.

The Program Committee

The program Committee plans for the statewide training program (conference) in November for Adoption Awareness Month, as well as the Annual Luncheon in June. Ideas are considered from CCA members, previous trainings, and committee suggestions. Meetings are typically held monthly or bimonthly at a central location in Connecticut. New members are welcome! Email info@ctadopt.org for more information.
